Act 1
This 2 hour spectacular stage show begins with a narration that the Blues music was born out of a time of sorrow and heartache. As a soft blue spot shadows an electric guitarist with single note solos and melodic figures so distinctive that it is virtually impossible to mistake them for anyone else’s, Amos Garret’s blues renditions will show why Guitar Player magazine calls him “one of the most lyrical and original guitarists playing today.”
The Rev. Elvis will echo the lament with the Presley classic “In the Ghetto” before a 7 foot tall blue light is lit up introducing the show theme that the “light shines in the darkness”
As a grand piano takes centre stage the crowd will be awestruck by C.J. Marvin, with a tribute to Elton John with selections which will have the audience “Crocodile Rocking” and then remembering the fragility of a “Candle in the Wind.”
The first Act comes to a close as Tony Rino’s powerful Italian aria “O Solo Mio” will be playfully followed by the Rev Elvis in his rendition of the English counterpart “It’s Now or Never” with the backing of the Corpus Christi Soul Brothers and Dwain Sands & the Good Luck Charms.
Act 2
The second act will start up with the Rev Elvis singing his original rocker “I Am who I Am” along with Elvis classics. Interspersed will be a time when corporate sponsors present their cheques to charities as lights are lit to splinter the darkness.
It will be an exciting meeting on stage as “the older Elvis meets the young Elvis” and Calgary is treated with the first appearance of Jaydee Bixby since the end of his successful Canadian Idol country wide tour. Rev Elvis and Jaydee will join in the Presley holiday classic, “Blue Christmas” and then Jaydee will perform some of his favourite numbers.
Then, as enjoyment and laughter can open us to go deep within, in a most powerful moment, the audience will be invited to remember loved ones missed at Christmas as the Blue Christmas light is lit.
Traditional Christmas songs will compliment the reading of the Christmas story anchored by Tony Rino’s singing of O Holy Night.
Rev. Elvis’ original message song “Maybe It’s Time” will draw out the full cast on stage who will join with the audience in the closing “Silent Night” as the blue 7 light display completes the message that that in the midst of the celebration of Christmas we acknowledge our world’s hurt and determination that “The Light Shines in the Darkness.”
